In the footsteps of Mary Magdalene TOUR
INFORMATION / PROGRAM
We will visit the church of Rennes-le-Chateau, dedicated to Mary Magdalene in 1053 and the cave of Mary Magdalene, also in Rennes-le-Chateau. Then going north, we will see the abbey and church of Alet-les-Bains, with its wonderful spring, the N.D. de Marceille with her beautiful Black Madonna, the church of St Martin in Limoux, the abbey’s of St Polycarpe and St. Hilaire, and of course the Cite of Carcassonne with its Basilic of St. Nazaire in the Cite and close by the church of St. Gimer. In the city itself we will visit the church of St. Vincent and the chapel of N.D. du Mont Carmel. Further north you will find the famous abbey of Caunes-Minervois and the N.D du Cros. Going west we will visit the lovely little church of Brenac, the N.D de Bon Secours in Puivert with its white Madonna, the N.D du Val d’Amour in Belesta with its Black Madonna, the impressive St. Volusien church in Foix and the cave of Mary Magdalen in Baulou. Near Tarascon-sur-Ariege we will find the N.D. de Sabbart with its chapel of Mary Magdalen, and further north Pamiers with the N.D du Camp and the cathedrale St. Antonin. Going still further to Toulouse with the Basilica Saint Sernin and the famous black Madonna in N.D de la Daurade near the river Garonne. On the way back we can stay for a while in the lovely city of Mirepoix with her Cathedrale of Saint-Maurice. Going east we will visit the church of Bugarach. Then the Hermitage St. Antoine in the Gorges de Galamus with the cave of Mary Magdalene and in the valley below the church of Peter and Paul in St. Paul de Fenouillet, with a beautiful old statue of Mary Magdalene. At the foot of the Cathar castle Queribus we will visit the church of Cucugnan with the statue of the pregnant Maria. The whole program will take about seven days, but you can choose any part or parts of the program you want. GUIDE Your guide will be Jaap Rameijer, owner of the chambre d`hote Les Labadous and, among other things, auteurs of 3 books about the area of Rennes-le-Chateau. ACCOMODATION Les Labadous, within sight of the village Rennes-le-Chateau (the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, the Da Vinci Code). The chambre d`hote is situated in a beautiful green valley, which breathes peace and quiet. The accommodation is comfortable and the service very friendly, a home away from home. All the rooms have private bathrooms, as do the studio. Everybody can make use of the magnificent large garden bordered by a stream. The large communal living room, decorated with original works of art, antiques and books, with its open fireplace, is the ideal way to unwind from your day’s activities. PRICE 1.250 euro per person, minimum 2 people, based on shared accommodation. GENERAL CONDITIONS · this package can be booked from March to December; · the accommodation is based on availability. If the accommodation is fully booked, we will make sure a good alternative is available; · this package can be booked individually, but a minimum of 2 people is required; · the down payment is 30%, to be paid upon booking. The rest of the amount needs to be paid before arrival, unless otherwise agreed upon; · the down payment is refundable up to two months before the day of arrival, after that time the down payment is nonrefundable.
